Network LAN Direct Cable (Cat5) XP-->

By supz ·
Hello. Previously I had a LAN connection between my windows xp pro computer to my windows 98 computer in which file sharing was enabled. My friend built this network for me. After developing 38 virus' on my xp pro cpu, I decided to beat the system &reformat it. So, I did that, but changed to XP home edition. Needless to say all of the settings from the LAN were deleted and I need to set it all back up again. Previously when running my computer on either machine it had an E & F drive seeing itself and the other machine because C: was shared. Now, despite my attemps to reconfigure the network, those drives dont appear in "my computer" and I have no idea how to get to the point of configuring it. The LAN is using a direct cable connection (cat5/7 i believe?) but is on dialup which I have not/will not opt for internet connection sharing. I just need to know how to redo my network and allow file sharing again. It shouldnt be too hard I hope. If anyone has an faq, or instructions or anything please post a reply. Win XP HE --> Windows 98.

Thanks!
