network Lap

By dennisbv ·
I am setting up a test network and I would like to know the best method. Could I create a child Domain as a test network? I want this to be on the network so I can move files back and forth.
I have one Windows 2000 client and one Server for this test network, I want to be able to create profiles, scripts and test them. Also could I run Exchange on this server one the network with our company Exchange server on the same network

Well, go ahead then! You can set up Active Directory on the Win2K Server, and then add the Win2K Pro client to the AD domain after AD is done.
This can exist on your existing IP network. Set up the Win2K Server and the Win2k Pro client to have static IP addresses (not addresses from an internal DHCP if you run one).

You could set up a Trust between the new Win2k AD domain and your existing domain, or don't. Either way, it will still be possible to move files to and fro.
