Network Management and monitoring

By jason.williams ·
I am currently in the process of looking for a solution that will allow us to monitor our infrastructure, including servers, network devices and so forth.

I want something that will have a dual role. Basically, something that can be used in a NOC Setting (for example, have real-time monitoring spread out across multiple screens for real time viewing to be notified immediately of any issues.)

Also would be nice to gather specific information on servers (CPU, Memory, Storage, make and model), monitor items like clusters, Exchange, SQL, Oracle etc. and network devices. We want to get e-mail warnings, SMS and so forth.

Does anyone have any recommendations for products?

I have close to 100 servers and growing. I also have about 7 sites in our environment (different locations spread across the state...)

Wanted to get recommendations and feedback.

Sounds like you need to know What'sUp

We use a product called What's Up Professional put out by IPswitch. It can do all you request and more. However it does require a great deal of setup. It does not do an inventory in the traditional way. We also use DameWare utilites to manage the workstations.
