Network Monitor on 2000 Pro

By northwood ·
How do you install network monitor agent on win 2000 Professional?

I noticed that win 2000 Server installs both the Net monitor and the agent as single install. But win 2000 Pro does not have any option for installing Net monitor.

So how do you capture frames coming from a win 2000 pro computer?

I do believe that Network Monitor cannot be installed on Win2KPro. I seem to remember reading that somewhere.
So, get another sniffer. May I suggest Sniffer Pro.

There is no option to install network monitor under Win2k Professional. You install network monitoring tool on the Win2k Server, and install only network monitor agent on the Win2k Professional. After that you can capture network packet/frame comingfrom the Win2k Professional machine on the Win2k Server.

To install network monitor agent,
Go to control panel > add/remove program > add/remove windows components> check ‘management and monitoring tools’.

Have a nice day!
