network neighbourhood not accessible

with 3 pc's connected on a p2p via a hub everthing is working fine.when pc's are switched off everything is lost.Although i can see pc's via find pc command , pc's are not aceessible.Please help

Hi
I think you look for properties of network neighbourhood .Is all the pcs have same workgroup define.I have also this type of problem but it got corrected when i chk my workgroup name

The first suggestion is usually a good solution for this problem but you may also run into policy problems if you have a 2k or XP box. What OS do you have on your boxes?

make it all in same work goup and configure all ip address are in same subnet.

it is better use one system as gateway to all systems so that your configuration may not be complex.

some times it will happens when nic is installed properly, remove/uninstall from the system and shutdown the system and physically remove the nic and reboot see for any things in device manager, if every thing is properly then reboot and install thenic.

If you have any firewall software, try disabling it. I had a similar problem with zonealarm.

If you do have zonealarm, you'll need to add the other machines to the trusted list.
