Network not working after installing VPN-role

Hi all, I am running a small network based on a Windows 2003 server. I’ve had the Domain Controller, DHCP, DNS and file-server roles installed and used RDP to do the maintanance work to my server. Everything was working perfectly, I’ve had no problems with that. But after I wanted to give remote users the possibility to access the network using VPN, everything stopped working. LAN users wouldn’t get an IP-address from the DHCP-server and even when a computer was using a static IP it still wast able to access the PDC. I’ve tried to ping the server but I got no response. Can anyone help me out since removing RRAS isn’t working either?

Hi

when the remote access was added, did any other network (routing) settings change? You may want to confirm the Firewall settings on the server are correct. (maybe temporarily disable it to test if the firewall is the actualy issue)

The Firewall settings were also my first guess. Ofcourse I disabled the Windows Firewall because otherwise I couldn’t install the RRAS-service.
While installing the RRAS, I’ve selected to enable the basic router/firewall settings so I’ve checked that already. I’ve enabled all incoming traffic but that wouldn’t do the trick. Strange enough, outbound traffic was never a problem.

trying to find what may be causing your issues.

review these articles, see if they help ( a few state default gw setting may be the cause)
