I have a 100mbps LAN of approx 54 users and am having some network performance problems where by the bandwidth (1mb) to our Head office WAN Spikes sporadically throughout the day and I can’t pin it down to where the problem lies. I suspect that it could be one of the following:
NIC chatter, i.e. bad NIC
Someone using streaming video
Or does anyone have any other suggestions.
This has only become an issue since we have brought an Oracle Database Server online? I am aware that you can get Packet Sniffing technology to test and monitor and even pin point the problem, but this is expensive. So Any other suggestions would be welcomed. If you require any other information, please ask and I will be happy to oblige. This problem is a major headache for me and I need to come up with some answers very soon.
thanks
