network + network printer+adsl

By koko122333 ·
i appreciate your help with the following configuration:
3 pcs and HP jetdirect 170x (connected to hp 812c) used to be connected to hp device (dont remember the model) hub+ ISDN modem.
all pcs used to be on the internet and be able to print to the network printer (hp jetdirect & hp 812c).
now we switched to ADSL line. (PPPoP)
i took out the hp device(hub+isdn modem)and replaced it with
linksys 4 port router, and connect the router to the asdl modem. ( all pcs & jetdiret are connecred to the linksys)
1. i cant print from any pc any more
2. do i have to make dailer for each pc? or just leave the
router connected all the time, un install the old dailers and be
sure to have tcp/ip - then click on IE to connect to the web?
3. the same configuration as above but instade of the linksys
i put hub/switch
* i still cant print from any pc
* do i have to make a dailer for each pc?
i switched between linksys & hub/switch because some one told me that the adsl modem i have is router too - it turned to not quit true. i need to change settings in order to make it router too.
THANK you very much in advance

Install the printer on your server. Can you at least ping the jet direct box. if not check your cables.

It could be that the 170x has DHCP on, does it have an ip address and can you ping it?
Maybe the router was dhcp server.
2. dailer, answer is no

You can hold down the button for 5sec. and the jet direct will print out the config. You can manage this device using WebJetAdmin to hard code an IP address rather than use DHCP.

Good luck.
