Network printer connection problem.

By buckeye_1 ·
We have a network with all work stations except one running Windows XP sp2. The one exception is running Windows 2000 Professional. The Windows 2000 Professional workstation is the only one that we cannot get connected to a color laser printer attached to one of the XP workstations. The error message keeps coming up as "cannot connect.....access denied". I am not aware of any settings that should restrict any one computer from accessing this printer. Can anyone help me with this problem???

did you try connecting to the shared printer with a username that exists on both the host XP machine and the win2k machine. you may have to make sure that both passwords match.

You have an Active Directory Network or stand alone Workstations??

If its stand alone you going to have change the firewall settings on you XP machines. I would also turn XP firewall off, as long as you have a firewalled gateway.

IF its an AD network their is more to do..
