By raj_ti ·
I have five network printer in NT plateform. All the printer is connected to hub & it is configured throuh hp jetdirect software. Now i want to that my nt server becomes the print server & configure all the network printer in pooling mode.So when my workstation send printing job to a perticular printer & if it is busy it will go automatically to second printer.

So please send me proper installation procedure & also for pooling solution.Should
I also able to configure network printer without use of hp jetdirect software?.

You won't need the HP Jetdirect software for this. You'lll need to install the MS TCP/IP printing service and create LPR ports for each printer and configure them for pooling. Search M$ for info on the procedure if needed...

First your printers must be the same type of printer, or at the very least use the same driver. I do not believe different printers with different drivers will pool properly. When installing a new printer check the "Enable Printer Pooling" in the available ports dialog box and set up should guide you through the rest. Before starting all printers must be available to the print server where the pooling will take place, either through local, or remote ports.
