Background: We have a Toshiba E-Studio 450. Its a heavy duty copier/network printer. Our small network runs 2 servers, an exchange server and a file server. Exchange handles our DHCP/FTP/Exchange/Print Hosting/Replication/Blackberry Ent. So far no problems. Its a pretty nice Dell Power Edge. The file server just holds documents and what not, its an 8 year old Dell Power Edge.
Problem: Recently people all around the network are having trouble sending documents to print accross the network to the Toshiba. I monitor the job from the user’s PC and it Throws it up into the Print Queue on Exchange, however it then sits and times out.
What i’ve tried:
Restarting Printspooler service on both Exchange server and local PCs. Sometimes it locks up the application trying to print. I unplug the network cable and it un-freezes. I can delete the printer on the User PCs and re-add it and it works most of the time. I have not deleted it from Exchange and re-added it. I have restarted the Toshiba. None of these things seem to really fix it so much as trick it to work for a while.
I’m really hurting, its our main printer in this office and its the only one that can handle the huge jobs.
Any advice?
