Network printing

By o.mcpherson ·
Has anyone any ideas why printing on a networked printer is slow on one PC and OK on another both with same builds (XP). I have been through all the unistall, update drivers, service packs, different methods of setting up the network connection procedures with no success. Only a problem on PCs with XP

Network Printing Problem

by tdoug77 In reply to Network printing

Some of the things that I can think of would be RAM on one PC may be more than the other.
Also you might go to My Computer, Properties, Advanced and check Performance Settings, then Advanced tab again. Check/experiment with the Processor Scheduling and Virtual Memory settings. I would think that Printing would be a Background service.

Just a thought.

Could be a network issue..

Network bandwidth will effect printing performance when accessing the printer over the network. Are both users on switches or hubs? Is one closer on the network than the other?
Also applications on the machine that is accessing the network could effect printing performance. Are both computers clean of Spyware\Adware? What other network applications are running on the machines?
