Hey this is my first post but I’m pretty desperate for an answer. Heres my setup:
Print server with about 35 printers setup locally to be shared across the network.
200+ xp machines
15-17 recently upgraded Vista machines
heres the problem.
When attempting to connect to and install a certain (hp lj4200)printer locally on vista machine, i get an error message(0x0000001f) and it states that windows in is unable to connect to said printer. (this problem also occurs randomly with other printers, sometimes a ricoh, sometimes lexmark)
This printer works fine with xp, so im thinking driver problems. SO i search for the latest driver, which is under the same name from the hp site(pcl 6), but it has a time stamp of march27, 2007. Install drivers, same issue. Then about an hour later it works , but then whenever an xp machine attempts, it gets an error saying that the paper size is wrong and to please manual feed.
We have support for every layer that this problem is occuring, but I’m sure that HP will blame our network support, and vice versa.
If any has any idea or something for me to try, I’m open. These vista upgrades are mandatory, so this problem has to come to rest at some point.
