Network Printing Issues...

By busyjones ·
10 machines networked peer to peer with WKSTN NT 4.0. 8 machines print fine, 2 machines will print no more than 20K (or ten pages), stop, and restart the print job again. All these machines have the same image on them. This worked at one time. Have tried all the basic stuff - uninstall/reinstall print drivers, etc.

I've encountered similar problem while back. I was using HP JetAdmin Port to share the printers. How do you have the printer or printers connected to the network? I recommend Adding Microsoft TCP/IP Printing service on one of the NT Wks. Once completed, add all of the printers to that perticular Wks by using LPR port.

Most probably the problem will be in the spooler, but to be sure , I like to know the the following configuration
1- What is the print server mode you are using(Windows NT server service) or (TCP/IP print services)
2- What is the protocol running on you workstation.
3- Is the printer networked to the LAN or attached to the Workstation which is acting as a server
4- Try to shut down the 8 working workstation, and run only the two WSNT with the printing problem, one at a time, try to print and tell me if there is a difference.
