network problem

I can only browse the network or go on internet when i am logged in as administrator.i have win2000 server.if i log in with some other account i cannot work on network or browse internet.i have to give other accounts admin rights so that they can work.Its not a domain controller but installed on laptop.

Check the User rights on that machine. You may have them set so that only an administrator can log into the network. It would seem that they have logon localy rights but not the the network. A second opion and a simple one is make sure that(if your login into a domain) that hte domain name is appearing at the logon screen and not the machine name.

The answer lies in setting Local Policies, and then defining User Rights Assignments.

A really good source of information on that subject is Microsoft article Q220019 titled, "How to Set User Rights in Windows 2000".
