I bought a used computer from an auction. It was owned by a college. It’s got Win 98, P3 and 256 megs of RAM. It was connected to a network and had McAfee. I uninstalled Network Associates which contained McAfee. I tried to put PC Cillin on it but it said that it couldn’t access the network and \my pictures\. I removed all folders named “my pictures”. I went to McAfee website and did a manual uninstall just to be sure all files were gone but it still said that an antivirus was istalled. I finally had to put AVG on it. That’s now working. Now when I’m trying to install MSN instant messenger, I’m getting an error message “could not access network location \my pictures\ “, error 1603. I called the college and spoke with the ITS help desk and they couldn’t help at all. There is no network installed on this computer. Does anyone have any idea how I can get rid of that error message?
