network request is not supported

By marvinh278 ·
I have a W2K Server that gives the error message(The system cannot log you on due to the following error: The network request is not supported.) I have to reset the server for the error to go away. I can then log on and it will work fine for about 3-5 hours and then I will start getting the error message again and cannot log in Also when I can logon, the event viewer logs are blank. I did do a virus scan and a spyware scan. It found a minimal amount of spyware (couple of registry entries) and on the virus scan, no viruses.

there is a bug in windows 2k that happens when event log fills up and gets corrupted.
you're supposed to be able to work around it by clearing the event logs.

It is an inherent win2k problem. See http://techrepublic.com.com/5208-6230-0.html?forumID=101&threadID=217997 for the solution.
