Network Security

By telecomsaint2000 ·
I am currently in the data network side of my department and I am curious to know what type of books or information I need to start learning about to work in Network Security? (Cisco, Microsoft, Nokia) I want to make a shift in my career from network analyst to something in IT security.

There are a huge number of great resources available. Some I highly recommend are:
Anything Cisco Certified/Approved
A email subscription to the SANS Institute and maybe attendance at some of their seminars/conferences/classes.

carnigie-Melon also has a great email subscription newsletter at.
http://www.cert.org/
I hope these three resources give you a good start.

Good Luck

THE main organization dealing with computer security is (ISC)2 which is the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium

www.isc2.org

THE premium certification for security professionals is the CISSP which they administer. (Certified Information Systems Security Professional).

There's lots of good books out there, but I'd get started with the ISC2 organization

You may want to check out the SANS institute

www.sans.org

They offer network security training, bootcamps, and training events.
