Hello –
I have a client that currently designates one of their employees to run through a daily checklist as proactive way to monitor their servers. The client has about 25 server. This checklist incluedes checking all of the Event Viewer logs, processor and memory utilization, disk space, etc. This is an extremely tedious process. It now takes this person an entire day to run down the checklist. The most time consuming part of this is parsing through the Event Viewer, jotting down the errors and then doing the proper research. Just about all of the server are Windows 2000. They also have a handful of Exchange 2000 server and SQL 2000 servers of which are monitored as well with another checklist. My questions is… are there anyrecommended software packages to assist my client with this type of monitoring? Maybe just setting up Windows 2000 alerts will work? SMS?
Thanks you!
