How do you download and use FTP, Telnet? And what other services are there to use aswell?

There's way too much information required to thoroughly answer your question than the space on this thread allows. However, the following links will provide you with the information you requested.

WebCom (a Web hosting company) has a series of excellent explanatory articles on FTP (File Transfer Protocol).

And WS_FTP (A company who provides FTP software) has a similar series of FTP educational articles.

Introduction to telnet, FTP, & gopher

FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is a service that allow you to access and log into remote computers to download or upload files.
Command Line FTP ( show you an example of how to down load and up load)
(note first upload file of your own then down loaded it)
example put c:\text.txt
get text.txt (which then will be on your desktop)

Advanced Command Line FTP

1- CuteFTP

2- Fetch (Macintosh)

3- LeechFTP 1.3 Build 207 (Release Date: [Apr-16-1999 )

4- BitBeamer

example start->run -> ftp

thanks for the help. so how would it work on a UNIX? and also how is the bridge/switch connected on the networks?
