Network settings

By hushpup9 ·
Is there a way to hide the network neighborhood and network places for user accounts, so that they are only available for change under the Admin account? And the user cannot browse the network.

You can do a group policy to prevent them from viewing and browsing the desktop

Hi JReece

You can use Microsoft's TweakUI to hide or show certain desktop items including Network Neighborhood.

If you have shares containing information that you do not want your users to see then you can simply add a $ character to the end of each sharename. When anyone browses the network these shares will not be visible. To access them simply type \\computername\sharename$ in the Address Bar of My Computer and then press enter.
