Network Shares – File Saving Question

We have two remote users who log into our VPN and connect to a specific folder on a server to do their work. We also have ‘in-house’ users who access the same folder.

Here’s what happening: if one of the VPN users and one of the ‘in-house’ users are saving files to that folder at the same time, one or both of the files get moved to other folders or the ‘in-house’ user isn’t allowed to save their file.

Now, is this simply a limitaton of Windows? Is it locking the folder for exclusive write permissions for the VPN user? Yet other times, one or both of the files will be saved in other folders on the server. It’s really quite baffling.

Has anyone ever experienced this before? If anyone needs any additional information, please let me know and I’ll post it.
