I am looking for some good recommendations on free network audit and help tools. For example, a simple tool to acquire MAC addresses for me all in one search, im sick of telnet route print =). Any links or information would be greatly appreciated.

Here’s a pretty good site. It offers open source and commercial apps. NBTScan should do what you’re looking for but there’s alot of other tools too:

The link RW gave is great but I thought I would throw out one more. NEWT is a network inventory tool. It has a limited free version and a Pro version that will scan for a ton of stuff. The Pro version has a Demo that will scan 10 machines. The best thing is that it is agent-free!
