Network Traffic Simulator

By Yitian ·
Hi all,

Does anyone know of any freeware that is able to simulate network traffic? I need to display some traffic volume for my project and I can't possibly set up the real thing. Is there any freeware that can capture the number of workstations, type of network and simulate the result?

Thanks in advance!

Linux can help you

The ping command in Linux has many functions, if you have a server you can open multiple terminals and flood your network with ping -f (ip) Flood ping.
Outputs packets as fast as they come back or one hundred times per second, whichever is more. For everyECHO_REQUEST sent a period ``.'' This provides a rapid display of how many packets are being dropped. Only the super-user may use this option. This can be very hard on a net-work and should be used with caution.

Thank you for replying!

I only need a simple simulator and I'm not running on a server. I'm using Windows ME actually. Is there such product?

Thanks again :)
