Network troubleshooting

By kari.stetzer ·
I have computers networked together. The NICs are fine along with the cabling. The computers could see the other computers on the network, they worked fine. One day they stopped. So I checked the NIC's cabling etc. I managed to get the computersto see the others, but they could not access them.
Any ideas on more troubleshooting?

You need to ping test. If you can ping between them, then fine, no connectivity or TCP/IP problem. If u can't ping, check the link lights on the NICs, then check your TCP/IP configuration. If you can ping, then it is a netbios problem, be sure both PCs are in the same workgroup.
