I have 4 pc’s at home 3 of which have network cards.
2 of these are Pentium 75’s and the third a Pentium 233. they all have 14″ screens
I want to upgrade but am concerned about upgrade costs and reliable upgrades.
I want to establish a shared net connection with ADSL and HUB and am looking to come out with the most robust design without spending huge sums.
1. What is the best setup to minimise my costs?
2. The children use them to play games and the idea is to setup the LAN for interactive gaming?
3. I want to run a Linux partition for educational purposes and Word,excel and Powerpoint and possibly Visio
4. Is it best to beef one up as a server?
5. What motherboard,processor,hard drive combination would make.
6. What applications do you suggest for effficient working on LAN?
7. I have heard Windows ME is memory intensive. What complications might arise with having multiple OS on each PC with partitioned drives ie win 95, win 98
