I have just taken a new job position where I will be in charge of recommending and implementing a WAN for this company. Currently they are outsourcing systems administration and I am going to be the replacement. I only have a couple of days to come up with a proposal. Right now they want their services to be up 99% of the time, and want to have a good backup plan if we go down. Any advice that I can get would be very welcome. I am looking to accommodate our business need as well as take in growth considerations over the next year. Here is what I have currently:
The first office in one state has a brand new server with a T1 connection. The only services that I can tell are the usual things like DNS, DHCP, VPN, Exchange, and file shares. There are only 2 computers at this location.
2nd Office in another state where we run our operations out of, and is where I am located, we have about 10 computers currently and a DSL connection that we use to VPN to the server. When this fails, which it does regularly, we switch over to Wireless dial-up via Sprint.
Our 3rd office, in another state, has 2 computers, a DSL connection, and login via VPN.
We expect our growth of user to triple the first year.
