Network Wizard not loading

By alexius ·
I have a problem with a numbre of XP programs not loading properly. If I try to use Network wizard - I get to the 2nd screen and the program disappears! Same thing happens with other XP programs - eg if I try to add or remove programs - I get into selection area and suddenly the screen disappears and I am back where I started. No error messages. Memory 512KB, over 60% free, ditto CPU - Even small programs like trying to add exceptions to Firewall - I start working and the screen disappears after a few seconds.
Any suggestions....?
Regards Alex

I have a current Norton Anti-Virus - updated and checked daily, plus run Adaware daily to check for spyware - what other options should I look for?

Hi

First of all I would run the System File Checker from the run command - type sfc /scannow and it check for corrupt/missing files and replace them. Check the application event log for any information on replaced files.

Next, run a registry checker to make sure you do not have broken links etc.

If your PC is virus/adware/spyware free, and performing these steps does not help, try repairing your installation of XP. Back up your data before attempting a repair.

Good luck
