If a particular partition of a computer on a network is not shared, is it still possible to access it? if yes, how?

I don't think so

I don't believe it can be accessed as such to share files etc. To access the whole PC, providing you're on the same network Remote Desktop is the simplist way!

You can...

It has to be Window's Firewall. Go to Control Panal; Classic View; Windows Firewall; Check "Allow Exceptions"; then go to the exceptions tab; and then check the "File and Printer Sharing." Then create a file on your desktop. Make it a network file and enable sharring. You should be good to go.

The actual question related to "accessing a partition not shared on a network" did it not?

if the administrator gives you the permissions needed, otherwise you have no need. Simple, eh? ;-)
