Networking Issue

by ladysniper . Updated 17 years, 3 months ago

I got up this morning after trying to update WoW with the Blizzard Updater (man, what a piece of garbage that is) and found that anything that needs an open port would not work. I mean nothing, no gaming, no messengers, my ftp program, nada. However, I have internet access.

I am running Windows XP Home, integrated Intel 10/100 network card, 2 gigs of ram.

So far, what I have done is this:

I checked my router/hub and network connection by hooking my laptop to the very same connection. Works fine. Games work, messenger and ventrilo work. That puts out any router/hub issues.

I then uninstalled any firewalls and virus software. Then went into the windows system and disabled the windows firewall there. Still nothing. After hours of research I did the ultimate answer and did a clean reformat of my computer assuming Blizzard somehow messed up my protocols and I was just not seeing the fix for it.

When I rebooted, I disabled windows firewall and tried Yahoo Messenger before anything else. It acts like there is no internet connection, which obviously there is as I am online with websites just fine.

At this point I am stumped but assuming this may be a hardware issue? Is it possible for a network card to halfway go out? Is it possible it is not seeing incoming messages from the ports I need for gaming/messenger/ventrilo?

Thanks!
Rose
