By c_saso ·
I have 2 computers netowrked one runnning Win98 and the other Win2K. They can see each other but when trying to access the Win2K system from the Win98 unit get msg: You do not have enough privilages. I have created the Win98 account on the Win2K unit. Any reason why this is happening?

When logging onto the Win98 machine, I am assuming you are using a user account with Administrative rights on the Win2k box to troubleshoot. You should have access with this setup.

Check up, that the built - in registration record for visitors is made active in W2k.
(Control Panel -> Users ... -> Advanced ->
Users-> Guest (right click) ->Properties.
Disconnect registration record should be NOT MARKED.)

If you are in a peer setup, you enable the Guest account on the Win2k machine. That will allow any user on the 98 machine access to the shared folders on the Win 2k machine.

You did not say if your Win2k is a server or a workstation.

I understnad you have check the permissions, have you checked them on both NTFS and share?

Have you tried loggin onto Win98 machine with the same account name a password as with Admin power on Win2K to see if that makes any difference? Try deleting all .pwl files on your Win98 machine, restarting and logging in again.

You have created the Win98 account on the Win2K unit.
That Win98 account should the same account name and the password as your Win98 machine.
