By colin.mac ·
I need to network two XP systems but i haven't got a hub, I've read that it can be done using a crossover cable. Both systems have network cards and are running Windows XP.

How do i go aboout it ?

You need a crossover cable.

Then u need run the Network Setup Wizard on each computer. U can even setup you network to share the internet connection.

To start the Network Setup Wizard, click Start, click Control Panel, click Network and Internet Connections, and then click Network Connections. Under Common Tasks, click Network Setup Wizard

G'day,

You need 2 network cards in the host pc and 1 network card in the pc sharing the internet connection.

Have the cable from the modem connect into one of the nic's in the host pc and the crossover cable hook up the 2 pc's. Once you have everything connected, the lights on the nics should be lit up.

You can run the Network Setup Wizard and pick direct connection for the host and pick the connect through another pc for the other.

Windows XP is good for this type of setup so minimal work for the user.

Good luck!
