NETX with an old Netware server

By madzumo ·
I have an old DOS based application running NETX on an old 2x Netware server. Does Netware 4x or 5x support the NETX protocol to upgrade OS on this app?
If it does, where could I find more information on implementing this!

I don't think you can use ipx/netx on any of the new servers. But you can login in bindery mode using Win9x and one of the windows clients. And that might help you.

I have an old 3.12 server and all of my users are running a DOS based applicationon there with the new client for 95.

I would suggest using the search on Novell's site for any of this help.

Good luck.

I have used the old dos protocol stack on all version up to and including 4.11. There are some quirks to be aware of. You will need to find 16bit ODI drivers for your network card. I believe the rest of the components are available in Novell's archives. If not email me and I'll send them back as an attachment. Novell never bothered to make Y2K compliant versions, so be carefull where you use them. They only support bindery connections, so you will need to borrow syscon from version 3.12 to setup login scripts on a 4.x server. I don't know of any websites specializing in obsolete netware, but a lot of admins have done all upgrades from 2.x to 4.x and kept our old apps working aall the way.
