I have just installed a LITEOn only a week ago - mine is the 16 x recorder.

I got NERO 4 supplied with mine and it works great, although I am running NT4.

See if you can get a copy of that.
Alternative is to try the LITEON site for drivers?

For reading a CD in the CDRW drive , you need the driver associate with the drive. If you can read a CD-ROM from the drive, your driver is correctly installed.
For writing a CD-R/W in the CDRW drive, you need 3rd party software like Roxio EZ CD Creator, Nero Burning. You may need DirectCD for CDRW.

Try to check on the CD-R, the CD-R may be corrupted. Try another different brand blank CD-R.

It could be th drive itself, send back to your vendor and check with them.

Roxio (prev. Adaptec) website gives some info about DirectCD. They say that this drive is supported by 3.01e and 5.0 (what happened to v4?). If you have either of these, you sould contact WWW.ROXIO.COM and go to the support page. You may need a patch from them.

Also, make sure your Windows (I assume) is all patched up.

Another real good option is Roxio EZ CD Creator. Roxio claims that your drive is supported by v4.02e and 5.0. I've been using 5.0 (Platinum) for a couple of months (with an LG...) and find it works great. I even don't mind the damn labelling software.

If you can get an eval. copy of this, I would suggest taking it for a spin.
