New hardware that will run Windows 2000

By lhdval ·
I have to build a new machine with Windows 2000 to run some proprietary software (for a digital photolab). The motherboard in the old machine is on it's last legs and the system needs replacing soon. I have tried running the proprietary software on an XP machine in compatibility mode and in a virtual machine, both with continual crashes.

Can anyone tell me if any of the current (April 2011) hardware will run Windows 2000? I just need a motherboard, CPU and RAM. Thanks for your help.

But none the less do you want a M'Board and so on to run 2000 or do you want a complete computer?

If it's a M'Board and components most of the Gigabyte M'Boards have 2000 Drivers so that would be my starting point. Something like this GA-EG43M-S2H

It has Onboard Graphics with 2000 Drivers but if you need a Dedicated Video Card you may have to look at some of the older PCI Xpress to get Y2K Drivers.

I would suggest a Antec Case & Power Supply because they are the best and you do not need tools with most of the Cases except to mount the M'Board.

Something like this PS

And this case

Thanks so much for that Col. I don't mind building machines, not a fan of installing CPUs though but I can if I have to. I have been looking through Asus and Intel with no joy for drivers, should have gone straight to Gigabyte.

Thanks so much for the info, you saved me hours of search time. Much appreciated.
