New Install and Exchange 2000

We just set up a spare box with W2K Adv Server and want to install Exchange 2000 on it, this is for experimenting only at this time. During the Exchange install I am told it cannot access the Active Directory and it failed to look up the Win2000 site this computer belongs to. And “You must logon using a Windows 2000 account”.

This machine was set up as a stand alone server on a NT network. I’m guessing that won’t work, right? So, do I have to set this box up on a seperate domain of its own,or a child domain of the NT domain?
