New Machine Configuration (Win9

By sharphillips ·
I am adding 13 new machines to my school computer lab. They come with Win 98 SE installed, but I have to set up the network and install all the software used in the lab. Is there something that will allow me to do all of this with a batch file? (Ican't ghost the systems because of the proprietary files, serial #'s, etc installed by the mfg.)

Scriptit is a scripting tool for automated installations. It's not perfect, but it mostly works. I use it quite frequently to roll out software at login.

This may not be the MS way to do things, but If they are all from the same Mfg. Change one to the way you want it setup. Then run regedit
and look in the
HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion

Delete the values for:

Productkey
RegisteredOwner
RegisteredOrganization

(Remember always make a backup of your registry, yadda, yadda, yadda) Then create your ghost image from that drive. Now ghost it to all of your other systems. And when they are booted for the first time they will pop up with a message stating that your OEM# and user information are required before continuing.

Enter each of the OEM's from the card or sticker, and your set. All with original Keys and all setup exactly the same.
