New motherboard, some help please.

by letterbox567 . Updated 17 years, 7 months ago

OMG where do I start,

Ok so I have a mate, (how many posts must start like that) but I have. He’s got a PC busted built by some shop thats since gone bust!

So I come along and say I can sort it out for you only I’m now stuck.,

Any help would be much appreciated.

This is the board,
http://global.msi.eu/index.php?func=proddesc&prod_no=187&maincat_no=1

I can attach an Everst report if asked.

running with XP pro on an Intel? Core? 2 Duo

errr 2gb ram.

Now I’m moderate in the hardware side of things and jumped in a little here so I’ll list out what I have done so far if I may.

I figured we were talking about a straight swap here and work out the drivers software later.

So I made a note of ALL wires and removed them,
lifted out old board after first removing the screws.
Dropped in the new board,
After fixing down re-attached the cables as before.
Switched on and all ok, even running old system, I thought great!

Now after about 8-10 mins the PC re-starts itself by itself, even mimicks an overheat as in if I re-start too quickly it restarts quickly. Everest is not reporting overheating problems

I checked the temperatures they are all ok,
Checked the wires – again ok. (I think)
Checked Drivers, installed them all no good, now I fear a BIOS!!! update!!!! – worry

Can someone please advise from here as I have lost my confidence all of a sudden!

Phil
