A small business has two computers that they would like networked together to share an application. One PC in running Win98 and the other WinXP. The application they want to share is QuickBooks Pro 2001. Each PC has a printer attached and both also have a dial-up connection to the Internet. The owner stated that in the future they may want to add more computers to the network and they are also looking to upgrade their Internet service to broadband (DSL)
My question is two-fold :
1. Would it be better to install a server-based system or could these computers be connected by a switch and still perform what the business needs ?
2. Based on the answer to the first part of the question, what would be the best way to share the application between the computers ?
