New nic won’t connect to server

by mikewbc . Updated 25 years, 1 month ago

I just installed a new motherboard, processor, and d link nic card into a workstation. I’ve got lot’s of workstations (over 20)with the same mb and nic that work fine. I’m running nt4 Small Business Server with DHCP. When I have the workstation set to get ip from dhcp, the card comes up with some strange preset ip not in the dhcp server range, but when I give it a vaild network adress for my system, it won’t connect to the server. I know it is seen by the server because before I changed thebrowser master setting it forced and election on the server. I can only ping the card from the workstation. I think I’ve got all settings the same as my other workstations. Any ideas. It’s probably something simple that I’m missing. It’s been a year since I’ve added a new machine!
