New Pc parts wont work correctly

By capone48048 ·
I just bought new:

Motherboard:
Gigabyte GA-945GCM(X)-S2

Processor:
Pentuim D 945+ 3.40 GHZ
800MHZ FSB
Dual Core

Memory:
Corsair CM2X1024-6400 (2 Matching Modules

Power Supply:
Ultra "X-Connect" 500 Watt Power Supply.

Video Card:
EVGA E-GeForce 8600GTS

Problem is:
Put all the parts together properly, Power up PC and nothing shows up on my monitor screen. The fan on the CPU spins and The video card fan spins, appears that everything is getting power but no video on screen - this happens when I use the video card or onboard video - nothing on screen. Any suggestions to get me a video signal ?

Are you sure that all power connectors are attached to the motherboard?

Your problem sounds typical of ATX2 style motherboards that don't have that square 4 pin power connector attached to the motherboard. It's usually a separate connector that runs from the power supply and supplies power for video cards. Also, ensure that your motherboard is properly grounded in the case. Try unplugging the hard drive and only supply power the motherboard itself and see if you get a display. Also, did you insert the RAM modules into the proper slots on the motherboard? On some boards, you have to insert them into alternate memory slots, such as 1 and 3 or 2 and 4, which are part of the same bank.
