Well, after finding my mobo dead on my Dell Dimension 8300 (see my other post here), the boss bought a new PC from CompUSA. Nothing fancy (Pentium D 925, 2GB RAM), but it runs fine, so I decided to put my new 250GB Western Digital IDE HDD (from the dead Dell) in for back-up storage. Problem is, the new PC runs a 160GB SATA HDD, so I put the 250GB on the only IDE cable the new mobo has (sharing with the resident CD/DVD drive), and now when I crank it up, it wants to read and boot from the Windows XP2 OS on the 250GB drive, and totally ignores the primary SATA 160GB drive with the XP Professional OS on it (which I really want to use)…the CompUSA folks said I could do it, but it ain’t workin’…should I strip the Windows XP off of the 250GB drive BEFORE I re-install it, to keep the blasted thing happy?
Thanks,
Rob
