New Phone System for Hedge Fund

By jfeldman ·
I am a principal at a small hedge fund. We have 5 professionals in our office and 1 professional 2000 miles away who works remotely. We are lookly to replace our 15 year Tadiran phone system (copper wite) with a VOIP system. We are looking for basic functionality like a) when a call comes in on the work number it can allow ring users cell phones, b) the ability to get a text message with an audio mp3 attachment of a vmail, c) the ability to record calls from our new VOIP system etc, d) the ability to easily converse with our colleague who is remote etc. At the same time as a small business we would like to keep our costs down. Does anyone have any recommendations? How much should the set-up cost, extra T1 line cost (I am under the impression we need a 2nd T1 line), and the per user per month cost be? What vendors should we consider? Are there any specific "bells and whistles" that would be optimal for me as a finance and more specifically investment professional? Should we go direct or are we best served by working with an independent sales agent who sells systems from multiple suppliers?
