      AVG – Anti Virus

      by pnetestinc ·

In reply to New products & services

It’s free , so why bother with expansive and complex antivirus ? Plus that one doesn’t pollute your system…

–> I was using another (famous) antivirus before. It came with the laptop and was constantly asking to be installed when I was turning on the computer, so finally I decided to install it with the objective to uninstall it after. But , what a surprise, after the install it was impossible to uninstall it ! (?) . I finally totally deleted all files of this nm,./
      program.

AVG is a nice Anti Virus , it work well, so far I never had a virus on my computer, free stuff are good stuff nowadays, don’t bother with expansive and complex stuff because they are well known, they don’t do better (and sometime they do less) then free program.

Is it possible to learn a new language without moving from your home (?!) ,

Yes, it is possible. You have 4 images, the person say the sentence and then you click on the image you think represent the sentence you heard. This way you make association between 1: the sound you heard with 2: The image you see 3: and the text you read. If your answer is OK you go to the next series of picture if it’s wrong you stay on the same screen till you find the correct answer (3 more choices).

“DAEMON Tools is a virtual cd/dvd-rom emulator. It is able to emulate nearly all known copy protections on the market today.”
      – 17 000 000 download of this 500kb tool have already been done .. just to give you an idea on how usefull it is. Basically if you have an Iso file (for example) and don’t want to burn the file on a CD , and the file(s) inside the Iso need to be on a CD anyway to be played, then you have no other choice, you have to simulate a CD or a DVD, you need Daemon.

      Open Source

      by pnetestinc ·

In reply to New products & services

Giving away software isn’t your typical path for a venture-capital-backed startup. But the open-source movement is making another big thrust forward. Entrepreneurs, investors, and many analysts say they’re confident that all of a company’s business software — representing hundreds of millions in sales — will soon be available as open source.

Software that companies once paid millions for is now available for free via the Internet.

The Linux operating system, which burst on the scene in 1991, led the first big wave of open-source software. The program, developed and maintained by thousands of volunteers, already represents a $4.2 billion slice of the $49 billion server market, and is set to grow at least 15% a year for the next five years.

India’s IT and business process outsourcing (BPO) could be bringing in US$60 billion by the year 2010, growing at over 25 percent a year

      by pnetestinc ·

In reply to New products & services

“However, the industry could face a shortage of half a million workers unless remedial measures in public education and corporate training are taken quickly, according to the report.
India’s software and services exports were $17.2 billion in the fiscal year ended March 31 this year, up by 34.5 percent from the previous year, according to the National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) of Delhi. NASSCOM and management consulting firm McKinsey & Co. released the findings jointly.
A large number of multinational technology and user companies are stepping up outsourcing to India. Microsoft (Profile, Products, Articles) Corp. announced last week that it was increasing staff in India from 4,000 to 7,000 over the next three to four years, while Dell (Profile, Products, Articles) Inc. said in April that it was increasing staff in the country to 10,000 by the end of this year. Aviva PLC, a British insurance company, said Monday that its suppliers were increasing staff doing work for Aviva from 4,300 to 7,800 over the next two years in India and Sri Lanka.
The total addressable market for global offshoring is approximately $300 billion, of which $110 billion will be offshored by 2010, according to the NASSCOM-McKinsey report.
By 2010 the Indian IT and BPO services industry could directly employ approximately 2.3 million people, besides providing indirect employment to another 6.5 million workers, according to the report.
The industry employed about 1 million staff and provided indirect employment to 2.5 million people in the fiscal year to March 31 this year, according to data released by NASSCOM earlier this year.
However staff shortage could be a major bottleneck for the industry, according to the report. The skills and quality of the workforce needs to be improved as only 25 percent of technical graduates are suitable for employment in the offshore IT industry in India, while only 10 percent to 15 percent of general college graduates are suitable for employment by the BPO industry, according to Jayant Sinha, partner at McKinsey & Co.
Urban infrastructure in India also needs to be improved as offshoring companies deal with various bottlenecks, Sinha said. Further growth of the industry will have to come from entirely new business districts outside the first- and second-tier cities, he added.
The report proposes setting 10 or 12 integrated townships in India with associated infrastructure like roads and international airports.”

Can you help me discover more music that I’ll like?

Those questions often evolved into great conversations.

When was the last time you fell in love with a new artist or song? Pandora Media? (formerly Savage Beast Technologies?), have a single mission: To help you discover new music you’ll love.

To understand how they do this, and why they think they do it really, really well, you need to know about the Music Genome Project?.

With Pandora you can explore to your heart’s content.

Just drop the name of one of your favorite songs or artists into Pandora and let the Genome Project go. It will quickly scan its entire world of analyzed music, almost a century of popular recordings – new and old, well known and completely obscure – to find songs with interesting musical similarities to your choice.

You can create as many “stations” as you want. And you can even refine them. If it’s not quite right you can tell it more and it will get better for you.

The Music Genome Project was founded by musicians and music-lovers.

      Truveo

      by pnetestinc ·

In reply to New products & services

Welcome to Truveo. We have spent the last couple years developing some new technology to find all of the best video on the web. Please try our video search engine and let us know what you think. Just type a query into the search box above or select one of the popular searches below.

The Truveo search engine offers several features that can help you find exactly what you are looking for. All of these features can be accessed from the Truveo Search Bar

      Basic Searching
If you are looking to find a specific video, simply enter the keywords into the search box on the right side of the Search Bar and click the ‘Search’ button. The search engine will then look through the index and return all records that match the keywords in your query. If your search returns too many results, you can always refine your search by entering a more complex query into the the search box.
If multiple records match your keywords, they will be ordered according to Truveo’s ranking algorithm. This ranking algorithm prioritizes search results based on several continuously calculated metrics and will typically assign the highest rank to the most relevant, popular, and recent videos.

      Advanced Searching
In general, entering multiple keywords is the quickest way to zero-in on your favorite video. If you would like, however, to perform more targeted searches, several search operators, modifiers and filters are supported by the Truveo search engine. A complete description of these capabilities can be found by clicking the menu items to the right. Many of these search options can also be accessed from the advanced search page which can be found by clicking the ‘Advanced Search’ button at the right end of the Truveo Search Bar.

      Video Browsing
If you are not looking for a specific video and would prefer to browse through popular or recent video selections, the buttons on the left side of the Search Bar can help. The leftmost button, called ‘Top Picks’, will display a list of the highest-ranked video across all of the videos in the Truveo index. According to the Truveo ranking algoritm, the videos that are most recent and most popular will typically be listed first. Similarly to the ‘Top Picks’ button, the ‘News’, ‘Sports’, ‘Movies’ and ‘Entertainment’ buttons will display the highest-ranked videos in the Truveo index according to genre.

In reply to New products & services

Skobee is a small company based in San Francisco, California–just one block from BART, occupying the same block as the famous Si Senor chicken mole super burrito, and a stone’s throw away from John Collins .For the time being, they are focusing on invites. they are building a fun and simple way to gather friends together for everyday social events like dinner, drinks, movies, and so on.

Theirs goal is to grow Skobee into a place people turn to when looking for something to do. There are a number of great sites out there for finding a good restaurant, meeting new people to hang out with, or searching for large events like concerts or lectures. However, when we’re looking to go out on a Friday night or get something together for the weekend, we still find the Internet to be a poor resource and they are excited to help cure the boredom problem.
