New Programmer

Hello everyone. I am interested in becoming a computer engineer, but before I do, I am aware I need to learn programming. My question is, what would be the very best programming langauge to learn as a base or starting point. Thank you for your time.

Whatever your local Junior college is teaching

It is more about the basic structures and flow than about a specific language. Once you understand the structures you can easily pick up other languages.

If you have a Choice one of the flavors of C is a good starting point.

Your first class will be a broad introduction to something like Java, but whatever they offer take it.
