NEW SATA DRIVE NOT RECOGNIZED BY XP HOME ON DELL

New to posting, any input greatly appreciated. have a client w/a DELL DIMENSION 8400, made the mistake of initializing the drive and setting it active on a portable usb enclosure, but the problem is the same: Recognized on bios, but cant see drive during install. please help and thanks in advance

You wil need to INSTALL the SATA drivers from DELL....

Go to the DELL website and download the SATA drivers for your model. Copy the drivers to a floppy.
Install Windows Home.
When you see "press F6 for third party drivers", PRESS THE F6 KEY on your keyboard and put in the floppy disk with the SATA drivers on it. Your Windows system will now pick up the drivers from the floppy and carry on loading.
