Hi Everyone,
Well, I have done it… I have just landed a new job, and it is my first real management position. I started in support, moved into network admin then Network Engineer. Each step has seen me thrown into the deep end and this new jobis no exception. I will be manager of IT for three states, I will have a number of people under me but I know that I will still be doing a lot of hands on work, I will have to handle this years budget as well as plan for the next year and beyond… and do this in a company that doesn?t have history of spending cash on IT.
So knowing all this, what is the advice that all of you would give a person new to IT management, I know that they are expecting big things from me and even though I am proud that I have landed this new position, I must say that I find it a bit daunting.
Thanks,
Stuart.
