    Newbie Pc learner!

    Hi all,

First ever post, plus I’m a total noob when it comes to the PC world.

Long story short I acquired an old Alienware Aurora R3 from a relative and have taken my first steps away from console gaming, and into the vast planet of pc gaming.

Now it runs some games flawlessly but others it struggles, (the likes of Call of duty, Fortnite, Witcher) they run but only on either really low graphics or I get severe frame drops.

I’ve briefly read into and started to research how to improve the running, upgrading graphics cards, ram, etc just wondered if any of you guys could possibly help me out a little further as the pc jargon at present totally baffles me.?

I’ll list the full description of the current set up I have and hopefully be able to get some help on what I can/can’t upgrade or what I can/can’t do to make this pc run to the best of it’s ability.

If it’s at it’s maximum I’ll probably just move it on and buy a newer more modern system, just hoping I can get it to run a few of the newer games a little smoother!

    Aurora R3 875w chassis.

    Intel Core I7-2600 (3.40GHz, 8mb L3 Cache, 8C)

    Memory : 6GB (2x2GB + 2x1GB) 133MHz Dual Channel Memory

    Hard-drive : 500gb Serial ATA (7200rpm)
Graphics : Dual 1GB AMD Radeon HD6870 CrossfireX

    Windows 7 (64bit)

Thank you in advance for any help you guys can provide!

    Connor

      PC Requirements for Games

      by cybersmarts ·

In reply to Newbie Pc learner!

The ability to run a game successfully depends on the resources of the PC and what the game requires. Hence why some games run successfully and some of the newer games are now.

Need to look at your processor, RAM & graphics card and what the games, which are not running well, provide as the minimum requirements to run.

RAM & Graphic cards as the easiest to upgrade. Processor generally require a new motherboard (PC).
