Newbie Question

By d.jones092 ·
Is it possible for people to authenticate to AD via a VPN connection? Meaning, say I have 4 remote sites, 1 central site. Each site has a 2000 server and is an "island" unto itself. If I pull back the servers in the remote sites, is there a way for the remote pcs to authenticate over the vpn to the main office?

Thanks for any info.

That depends on your VPN. We use Checkpoints secure client here coupled with a Checkpoint hardware VPN. It has a feature called Secure Domain Login. Each client authenticates with the domain as if they were on the network. We have seen some issues with extremely long (30 + minutes) boot times and had to stop using it, but it is possible.
