newest problem -> can not copy, cut and paste

By .Martin. ·
same old system:
Intel i7 920
MSI X58 PRO mobo
6GB RAM
elitegroup Nvidia GeForce 9800GT 1GB
1TB HDD
Vista Ultimate 32-bit
2 screens (ViewSonic VA1912w and Samsung 2333SW)
Logitech MX5500 bluetooth keyboard + mouse

new problem: can not cut, move, copy and paste.

checked all the settings, I have ownership of both folders (in the same drive).

windows responds when i cut the file, i.e., file goes pale, but paste option is not available, same with copying.
with moving, I just get a cross.

is this another too much RAM problem?

Thanks in advance,
.Martin.

Have you tried

a System Restore. Cut the RAM back to 4GB and see how it performs.

Martin these Triple Chanel RAM M'Boards work better with

64 BIT OS's and with your Memory Load I really would recommend a 64 BIT CPU.

But having said that when did this start happening and what was changed just before it started?

Remember that Windows Updates are a chance. I would be looking at either some new software being installed or a Windows Update breaking things so try a Roll Back to an earlier Point and see if that cures the issue.

can copy and paste in some places, and not other (don't understand)

I planned to go 64-bit anyway (when windows 7 comes out), we can see if that solves my problems

Just remember to do a Clean Install of 7

by OH Smeg In reply to stupid thing has evolved

Not a Upgrade Install. It works much better that way and doesn't import any faults from the old Install.
